River’s of Babylon

By the rivers of Babylon
Where he sat down
And there he went
when he remebered Zion.
For the wicked, carry us away
captivity require from us a song
How can we sing King Alpha’s song in a strange land?

So let the words of our mouth
And the meditations of our hearts
Be acceptable in thy sight
Here tonight

By the rivers of Babylon
Where he sat down
And there he went
when he remebered Zion.

For the wicked, carry us away
captivity require from us a song
How can we sing King Alpha’s song in a strange land?

og så udgaven fra salmernes bog:

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps.

For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song,

and our tormentors asked of us mirth:

‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion.’ How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not;

if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.
